Movie Night!

It all started with a large Hot-N-Ready peperoni pizza from Little Caesar's, my cousin Yvette brought. I brought the 12 pack of white cupcakes with vanilla frosting. They are so cute! There have tiny little red hearts that decorate the top of the white frosting. And each cupcake comes with a colorful plastic heart ring. Along with the sweets, I brought mini pretzels with salsa con queso (salsa cheese dip), and a bag of Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos.

We (me and my five other cousins) started out with watching You Again until I got a text from Shavonne saying "Dey ready". It was time for me to pick up the kids. For those that are wondering, no I'm not a mommy. I call my two little cousins (one 10 year old girl and one 8 year old boy) the kids or "my babies" because I feel like I'm their mommy when their real mommy's at work or home. I like to call them "my weekend kids" because when they end up spending the night I make sure they're tucked in and they have a pillow to rest their little heads on. I make sure they eat, they brush their teeth, and clean their little parts. I also make sure they're entertained. And I also spoil them and take them places when my budget calls for it. So 'bout time I got back home from picking up the little brats from home, the movie was mid way over. The three of us already had plans to watch a movie so we went to my room and started watching Alice in Wonderland.

Nothing against Despicable Me, but uh, the kids and I decided to watch something else until tomorrow, when my cousin Yvette watches Despicable Me. She finally agreed to watch it to "see what all the fuss is about". The funny thing about Despicable Me is that me and the kids have been watching that movie practically every week since December 2010 when I brought it. I, on the other hand, sneak and watch the movie when the kids are at home. I can't get enough of it! It's hands down my favorite movie of last year. I can quote the entire movie like no ones business. But I'll save that for another time.

Terrell (8 year old boy) dosed off on the floor with his head planted next to his pretzel and Dorito bowl. Alice was minutes away from meeting the Queen and he got sleepy and missed it. He was the one that was going gaga to watch Alice in Wonderland and he was the first to bite the dust. Amature. I told that boy he wasn't gonna eat all of his snacks.

After Marie (10 year old girl) and I discovered that Terrell was wiped out, we put in 13 Going on 30. She doesn't want to admit it, but this is one of her favorite movies. We've been watching it every few months for the past three years (every since we moved here from Michigan). Meanwhile, in the living room the boys and their mom, Yvette, are watching Paranormal Activity 2. The other two went to bed after You Again went off. I took a few peeps at Paranormal Activity 2. The beginning looked a little mundane. I wasn't drawn in. Moments later while I went out to refill my cup with water, I jumped really hard on one scene because from what I seen, stuff like that doesn't happen everyday. In the words of the boys "Thaaat's nooot riiight".

Now for those of you that don't really know me don't know how that I get my sense of humor from my mom. My mom laughs at the most inappropriate things. So for those that were there last year when I watched the first Paranormal Activity know that I laughed pretty much throughout the movie. It wasn't scary and I knew they were actors. Years and years ago, (1997) when Titanic was the most popular movie in the world, my cousin Michael and I went to the theaters to see it, although I had already seen it before. Anyhoo, towards the end of the movie where everyone was standing on the bow of the ship while the ship was going down, there wasn't a dry eye in the theater. But then there was me. Laughing. Sometimes I can't help it. I see a mental image in my head and I can't help but laugh at it no matter how serious the subject matter is. I can't cry at anything unless my own feeling are being hurt. Two days ago, however. That was another story.

It was between 1:30 and 3:15 in the morning and I was watching For Colored Girls. I knew the movie was going to be a heavy when the previews came out last fall. But I didn't care I wanted to be entertained. So I went ahead and put the DVD in my DVD player and pressed Play. I didn't blog that night/morning because I decided to wait until later that day, so I thought I'd relax with a plate of fresh baked cookies, and curl up to a movie. According to a website I found, The film is directed by Tyler Perry and the screenplay is written by Nzingha Stewart based on the play by Ntozake Shange. The film stars Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Anika Noni Rose, Omari Hardwick, Kerry Washington, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Tessa Thompson, Macy Gray, Richard Lawson and TJ Hassan.

Based on Ntozake Shange's award-winning 1975 play, which consists of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color. It deals with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion. It later morphed into an Emmy Award-nominated television special and is still being performed around the world.

There was this one scene that made a tear drop from eye. I mean, it literally just fell. Everyone who knows me knows that I don't cry during movies; I laugh. But not this time. That scene was so incredibly, so unbelievably, so heart breaking that I couldn't help but get emotional. Go see it and then we could talk about it.

  2. The Ring is one of my favorite movies. It scared me the first time I seen it but I couldn't stop watching it.

Paranormal Activity was funny. There's no reason to be scared. But on the same note, after we watched it, our house (on Bravo) had a mind of it's own. Things started moving and making noise on it's own. I was more annoyed than I was spooked
